Hello!!

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to visit my website. My journey to become a Doula has been just that a “journey.” Starting when I was 17 and my best friend conceived her first child. When she went into labor it was me she called to support her. As the years went on, more and more of my friends became pregnant. As each one of them delivered, it seemed that I was the one they called to support them through their labor. I was not a formally trained Doula at this point nor did I even know doulas existed.

Through the years I attended several different universities earning my BA in Communication and degrees in graphic design and specialized multimedia. I had many options for employment after completing college, but none of them made me feel “complete” or “happy.” When I was 25 I supported another really close friend of mine through her whole pregnancy, labor, delivery and then through the postpartum period. I was again intrigued that I was the one she turned to for comfort, support, and knowledge.

My mom has always told me that there was a greater purpose for my life out there and I never really truly understood what she meant. One day when I was 27, I came across an article on doulas in a magazine. I was so intrigued that everything I had already been doing naturally and intuitively had a name and was an actual profession. After further research I found a DONA labor doula training that was to take place in the coming week. This was the start of a new adventure for me.

I am now 32 years old and a DONA certified labor doula and postpartum doula trained through Postpartum Doulas of California. I have supported over 100+ women through labor & delivery and have worked with many families through postpartum. I have become a mentor to other Doulas starting out through the UCSD Hearts and Hands program. I am also a professional member of the ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network). I am in the process of also becoming a certified instructor for Dr Karp’s:  Happiest baby on the Block techniques. I have continued with great effort to educate myself further so that I can provide the families I work for with as much information as possible. I am certified in CPR. I am very flexible, and a quick thinker (on my feet) with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. I speak and understand a good amount of Spanish and I have helped many Spanish only speaking couples through labor and delivery. I wish you the best of luck with your journey into parenthood and I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully working with you.

"Speak tenderly to them. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the warmth of our greeting. Always have a cheerful smile. Don't only give your care, but give your heart as well."
